Spotify Uses Personal Data for Training Algorithmic and Machine Learning Models

In the privacy policy update on 13.05.2025 Spotify claims that they use users’ personal data for training of algorithmic and machine learning models to build AI features.

Before:

We use personal data to develop and improve our personalized recommendation algorithms (line 221)

After:

To evaluate and develop new features, technologies, and improvements to the Spotify Service. This includes development and training of algorithmic and machine learning models, which help us to keep our service safe and enhance our users’ experience. (Line 182)

[…] so we can build AI features such as AI DJ and AI playlist (line 182)

Note: This is the first time Spotify addresses their own machine learning models and AI features in their terms.
