Effective on 09 December 2025, Twitch updated their terms of service to revise their age policy. Instead of a universal “at least 13 years old” rule, the platform now requires users to meet the minimum age mandated by their local jurisdiction.
This change was made as a clear response to Australia’s social‑media ban for children under 16 years old (effective 10 December 2025), ensuring Twitch’s “minimum‑age” requirement aligns with that ban and with any other jurisdiction that imposes a higher age threshold.
Added:
“The Twitch Services are not available to persons under the age of 13, the age of 16 in Australia, or the minimum age required for use of the Twitch Services in your jurisdiction of residence if that age is older than 13 (the “Minimum Age”).” (Line 45)
